Boston Yoga Photo Shoot {Jessi Dellert Yoga}

I am so excited to share this yoga photo shoot with you of the beautiful Jessi Dellert! Jessi picked out this amazing breather location in downtown Boston with exposed brick and tons of natural window light for our yoga session. Since Jessi teaches a range of yoga classes from Hip Hop to Yin, we photographed everything from child's pose to arm balances and she totally rocked all of them. She was so much fun to work with and I highly recommend checking out on of her classes at Beacon Hill Yoga, East-Side Yoga and Fitness or YogaWorks Comm Ave. You can see her schedule on her website: jessidellertyoga.com. And, stay tuned to the blog for my last post from this breather session of the lovely Leslie Doyle.

You can also find Jessi on Facebook and Instagram!

The beautiful mala beads are made by the lovely Coe Yoga.

Boston Yoga Photo Shoot {Coe Yoga}

I am so excited to share previews with you from Coe's yoga photo shoot in Boston earlier this month. I had a blast photographing this amazing yogi because she was full of smiles and laughter and had a completely beautiful energy about her the entire time. If you're looking for a fun, challenging and adventurous yoga class in the Boston area, definitely check out Coe's schedule. She's currently teaching at Boston Athletic Club and East-Side Yoga and Fitness. And, as if that wasn't enough, she also makes the most beautiful mala beads! You'll see some featured in the photographs below and you can check those out on her website as well: www.coeyoga.com. You can also follow Coe on Instagram!

If you're loving seeing this beautiful exposed brick space, stay tuned because Jessie and Leslie's yoga photo shoots in this same breather room will be coming up next!

Norwood, MA Yoga Photo Shoot {Team Universal Power Yoga}

One of the most amazing things about my job is that I get to create partnerships with some pretty amazing people. When Jen Merola Palmer, owner of Universal Power Yoga in Norwood, first contacted me, she had just opened her studio and was looking for a photographer for her Grand Opening Celebration. She, like me, started pursuing her passion while still working at her corporate job. First hand, I can tell you that it takes more hustle than most people can ever imagine to work two jobs full time. But that's often what it takes. I have been continually impressed by the amazing hustle and determination from this amazing woman. And, I am so happy to say that since that first Grand Opening, I have photographed her team countless times for celebrations, benefits, group shots, teacher training groups and mini sessions. Here are a few previews from our latest shoot with her teaching team. Check out her website to see more: www.universalpoweryoga.com and make sure to catch a class with her or her amazing team of yoga teachers sometime soon!

And, speaking of benefits at UPY, we have one coming up! Join Jen, Jacqui Bonwell and moi for a Yoga Reaches Out 2016 Yogathon Benefit on Friday, April 22nd. I will be offering Pick a Pose from 6:00pm to 6:45pm and Jen and Jacqui will be co-teaching a yoga to live music class at 7:00pm. You can sign up on the workshops tab on the UPY Mind Body site. Look for "Rally the Troops!"

There is a suggested $10 donation for each pose and $25 donation to participate in class. 100% will go to Yoga Reaches Out. High res digital image files will be sent to you directly.

If you want to be more involved, you can also join my team for May 1st! And, read more ways to get involved with YRO on my blog post, Why it's Important to Give Back as a Business.

Six Tips On How to Get Photographed at Yogathon

There is something pretty incredible about walking into the Field House at Gillette Stadium each year and seeing it fill up with 1,000 other like-minded yogis all there together to support Boston Children's Hospital. The collective Yoga Reaches Out energy in the room is truly palpable.

In case you're wondering what 1,000 yogis at Gillette Stadium looks like! Here is a panoramic shot at last year's yogathon!

The only downside to there being 1,000 of you is that, well, there is only one of me. In total there will be four photographers {shout out to Ashley Bilodeau, Tamar Melen and Jay Kiely!}, 1,000 students, and hundreds of additional amazing contributors - presenters, speakers, marketplace vendors, in-kind donors, volunteers, etc. - so while we usually are able to cover an incredible number of people, we may not be able to get a shot of everyone individually.

Given that, I've put together some tips on how to get you your next profile pic and your studio their next newsletter highlight photo by moi.

  1. Go to Yogathon! {Hey, I had to put the link in somewhere! Join my Team or Create a Team.}
  2. Enjoy yourself! Dance, laugh, smile, meditate, get into it!
  3. Ask me! Tap my shoulder, call my name, introduce yourself and show me where you are on the field!
  4. Participate in the group activities like linking arms, hands, feet, etc. I love group shots!
  5. Get your team together! And then call me over to photograph you as a team!
  6. Go viral with last year's photographs! If I know you are going to help spread the word about Yoga Reaches Out, Yogathon, and Tracy Rodriguez Photography, I want to get photographs in your hands! The photography is not only a gift to you but a major fundraising vehicle for the organization so help us spread the good word!

What other tips do you recommend? Post them in the comments below! And I'll see you on your mat at Gillette on May 1st!
